Travel to Safwa City in Morocco

Every year thousands of visitors flock to Safwa City, located in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Known as the Pearl of the Gulf, this city is a jewel in the crown. The ancient historical sites, modern amenities and friendly locals are all reasons to spend time here. However, there is a little-known secret about the city that many of the tourists don’t know about.

In addition to being home to some of the most historically significant sites in Saudi Arabia, Safwa City also serves as a gateway into the oil fields of the Middle East. It was in this region that King Abdulaziz established the Al-Sultan bin Abdulaziz mosque. Built back in the thirteenth century, this exquisite mosque is one of the world’s largest. And while you’re in town, you may want to take in the beautiful gardens surrounding the Al Sultan statue.

A few of the other attractions in Safwa City include the Islam Behest Restaurant, the Safaenei Tomb and the Yemenite House museum. You can also spend some time shopping in the Safa Mall and the Souk Madinat. And for entertainment you can head over to the Thula Himyarite disco, where you’ll find both live music and dancing. If music isn’t your thing, you’ll be glad to know that the Thula Himyarite provides an indoor swimming pool.

But no trip to Safwa City would be complete without at least a little bit of sightseeing. The region was known for its ancient ruins long before the Islam kingdom was even established. And while they’ve been cleaned out and restored somewhat, the old ruins give the city a fascinating glimpse into the past. Many of the desert-dwelling structures were destroyed during the rule of the Fatimaahid dynasty. And, today, they still stand as testimony to the resilience and dedication of the indigenous tribes who once inhabited the land. To get a glimpse of these sites, you should plan to spend the afternoon at the Safa Hamedani Museum or the Safa Al-Rabieh Tribal Cultural Center.

And while you’re in town, don’t forget to try some local cuisine. Known for its superiority in taste and quality, Safawat offers many great restaurants and eateries, including those located in the Safa Jelouda citadel. The most famous eatery is likely to be the Al-Wasi Meal (also known as the Al-Wasi Meydan) which is said to have won the best tasting restaurant award at the annual “tasted cuisine international” exhibition. Of course, you’ll find many other fine restaurants in the area, but those two should certainly help your palate.

When you travel to Safwa City, you’ll find a wealth of cultural experiences waiting for you. This diverse, interesting city offers something to everyone. No matter your taste, there’s a place for you to explore here. And when you do, it will surely be worth a second look.
